Cal student selected for fellowship on terrorism

The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank, has selected Matthew Brown of Calabasas, a freshman at UC Berkeley, to participate in an undergraduate fellowship program that teaches students about terrorist threats directed at America and allied democracies around the world.

Brown is majoring in political economies of industrialized societies and English at UC Berkeley with an interest in international relations. He attended Loyola High School in Los Angeles.

Forty students were selected for the program which lasts a year and begins with a 14-day trip to Israel.

Before traveling to Israel, Brown will spend two months interning in Washington D.C. for U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.).
