Trash hazardous waste safely Los Angeles County residents can dispose of hazardous waste, e-waste and universal waste at the Countywide Household Hazardous Waste Roundup from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sun., June 3 at the Calabasas Landfill Scale Area, 5300 Lost Hills Road in Agoura. Residents can bring up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds of household hazardous waste per vehicle. Waste that will be accepted includes unused pharmaceuticals, antifreeze, car batteries, used motor oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, paint, paint thinners, pesticides, household batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, TVs, monitors, computers, keyboards, VCRs, stereos and cellphones. Such waste can be hazardous to people and to the environment if not disposed of safely. Serious pollution problems can result if these items end up in landfills or down storm drains. More than 80 percent of the household hazardous waste and 100 percent of the electronic waste collected by this program is recycled.
