Nude alert

Two recent incidents involving the sighting of nude men in Oak Park prompted residents to call police. Both occurred on a trail at the top of Deerhill Road, in the Chambord tract.

In the first incident, which occurred in early April, a resident hiking the trail came across a man with no clothing. The resident did not have a cell phone and returned to her nearby home to call police. When police arrived the nude man had left.

The second incident took place at 11 a.m. on Sun., May 13. Two residents spotted a nude man on the same trail and called police. The man, who had walked down Deerhill Road toward Doubletree Road, was detained and questioned by police. He was released because police couldn't contact the reporting parties and could not prove that a crime had occurred, Capt. Bill Flannigan of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said. Flannigan didn't know the man's identity.

"It's not necessarily a crime to walk around naked," Flannigan said. "You have to be able to prove indecent exposure with sexual conduct."
