Mentalist plays mind games on audience

ON SECOND THOUGHT- Mentalist Marc Salem will perform at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza on Tues., June 12 as part of a fundraiser for Friendship Circle, a program offered by the Chabad of the Conejo which pairs volunteer teens with special needs children from the community.
Marc Salem, a mentalist, will perform his Broadway show "Mind Games Extra: On Second Thoughts," at 7:45 p.m. Tues., June 12 at the Fred Kavli Theatre, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.

According to Salem, it's not magic, trickery or sorcery, but a disciplined understanding of psychological techniques, visual cues and human nature that make him appear as if he can know what audience members are thinking.

"I'm trained as a psychologist; what I do is not supernatural," said Salem, who has performed on "60 Minutes," CNN and other national programs.

The evening also includes a live performance by Moshav, a contemporary folk/rock trio.

The performance is presented by Chabad of the Conejo and the Conejo Valley Friendship CircleProceeds will go to the Conejo Valley Friendship Circle, a nonprofit organization that pairs volunteer teens with special needs children.
