Hear classical music in Malibu

SongFest, a professional training program for aspiring classical singers and pianists, will open its 2007 season at 7 p.m. Sun., June 17 at Raitt Recital Hall on the campus of Pepperdine University, Malibu.

The program offers free concerts to the public through July 14, featuring the music of Bach, Fauré, Schubert, Schumann, Gordon, Harbison, Heggie and Primosch performed by both young and established professionals.

This season's guest artists include Graham Johnson, pianist; Martin Katz, pianist; Craig Smith, conductor; Peggy Pearson, oboe; Sheryl Cohen, flute; Jake Heggie, composer; Ricky Ian Gordon, composer; James Primosch, composer; Judith Kellcok, soprano; D'Anna Fortunato, mezzo-soprano; and Janice Felty, mezzo-soprano.
