Just in case you're asked on a game show, "Which would be a better replacement water tank choice for Oak Park, proposed site A7 or A8," here is a cheat sheet of the least impactful options provide by the Triunfo Sanitation District's April 2007 study.

Cost of tank and pipeline: A7- $ 7.2 million. A8- $5.1 million.

Construction truck loads: A7- 92. A8- 42.

Affected sensitive wetlands: A7- Medea Creek. A8- none.

Road construction: A7- paved black asphalt 12-feet wide and 2,000-foot road scarring the hill permanently. A8- gravel 12feet wide and 800foot road looking about like it looks currently.

Construction traffic, noise and pollution: A7- you don't want to know. A8- you got it, all less than A7.

Let's hope the Triunfo Sanitation District board of directors has done its homework when challenged by this very tough choice. Carl Jarecky Oak Park
