Kanan interchange sparks controversy

Am I the only morning commuter who thinks the new Kanan Road traffic lanes for entering the southbound 101 freeway aren't working? It now takes longer than ever to get on the southbound 101, as traffic backs up north of Canwood to get into the single right lane.

People in the left lane who are unfamiliar with the change suddenly realize their mistake and try desperately to cut over, further slowing traffic and causing many near-misses. I have almost been hit on several occasions.

Taking away the two left entrance lanes for the southbound 101 was a boneheaded move, period. It's too late to reroute the freeway entrances themselves, but city traffic planners should take another look at the traffic lanes. I imagine it would cost less than a city traffic planner's annual salary to repaint some lines on the pavement. Mike Laskavy Oak Park
