Calabasas hosting a General Plan workshop

The city of Calabasas will hold a twoday workshop today and tomorrow, May 17 and 18, to invite public input on what should be included in the city's new General Plan.

The plan is a state-mandated blueprint for the development of the city. The current plan is more than 10 years old.

The public workshop, to discuss aspects of neighborhood character and the overall needs of the city, will take place at the Agoura/ Calabasas Community Center, 27040 Malibu Hills Road in Calabasas.

"Involving the public through this workshop is important because the General Plan is the primary policy document that shapes the future and quality of life in Calabasas," said Maureen Tamuri, Calabasas planning director.

Today's workshop is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will include introductory comments. Exercises will be given to help define neighborhood character and identity.

The Fri., May 18 workshop will run from 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. and will include both a city staff work session and public open house.
