Award-winning pianist to perform at Civic Arts Plaza
Classical musician will play on May 19

MAESTRO- Pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi will perform a Rachmaninoff concerto when he makes his debut with the New West Symphony at a Thousand Oaks venue.
Antonio Pompa-Baldi, the 2001 Van Cliburn Competition silver medal winner, will make his New West Symphony debuat 7 p.m. Sat., May 19 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.

PompaBaldi will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff's Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra, Opus 18.

Boris Brott, music director for the New West Symphony, will conduct the final Masterpiece Series concert of the 2006-07 season. The concert will include Alexander Nevsky, Cantata for Mezzosoprano, Chorus and Orchestra, Opus 78 by Sergei Prokofiev. The Los Robles Master Chorale and the Master Chorale of Ventura County will comprise the chorus.

Born in Foggia, Italy, Pompa-Baldi first came to the United States in 1999 t o participate i n the Cleveland International Piano Competition where he won first prize. PompaBaldi has toured on four continents, appearing in concert venues as a recitalist and as a soloist with major orchestras.
