Shoemaker to laugh up The Canyon

Comedian Craig Shoemaker will appear in two shows at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Sat., May 19 at The Canyon, 28912 Roadside Drive, Agoura Hills. The shows will be taped for release on DVD later this year.

Shoemaker was named Comedian of the Year by the American Comedy Awards and has won two Emmy awards and a Toastmaster award. As an actor, he has appeared in television and movies, including his own production of "The Lovemaster," which won best film honors at the Independent Film Festival in Los Angeles.

He is the CEO of The Laughter Store at 15140 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, a comedy store featuring CDs, DVDs, books, cards, gag gifts and posters.

Another of Shoemaker's projects is a charity foundation, LaughterHeals.org, a nonprofit organization with the goal of promoting "healing through laughter," according to the website.
