Chamber holds scholarship reception

The Agoura/Oak Park/ Conejo ValleyChamber of Commerce will host the inaugural Patricia Soteras Scholarship fund reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Tues., June 5 at the Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas.

Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine will be the master of ceremonies.

Scholarships amounting to $500 will be given to students attending Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Oaks Christian, Malibu and Thousand Oaks high schools. Presenters will include state Assemblymember Audra Strickland, Calabasas City Councilmember Barry Groveman, Thousand Oaks Mayor Pro Tem Jacqui Irwin, Do-it Center owner Jess Ruf, Malibu Mayor Ken Kearsley and Westlake Village City Councilmember Jim Bruno. "It's a great honor for me to be part of this first Chamber scholarship fund reception to help our young people and to honor Pat Soteras, who did so much for the youth of our community," Zine said. The scholarship fund was set up by the Chamber to honor late Executive Director Pat Soteras who help build the Chamber from 200 members to more than 1,500 today.
