Three cats lost after RV crashes on freeway in Westlake Village

Three cats were lost during a vehicle accident on the 101 Freeway near Thousand Oaks about 10 p.m., Sat., April 28.

A family was riding in a motor home with their dog and four cats southbound on the 101 toward Los Angeles when they had an accident near the Westlake Boulevard exit off the 101.

The RV rolled down a bank near a business park between Hampshire Road and Westlake Boulevard and hit a tree. A door was ripped off the vehicle, which was totaled.

The father and one of the sons were not injured. The mother had surgery on Sunday for serious injuries. A second infant, a son, had a head injury. Both family members are hospitalized in Los Angeles.

The family dog, a black chow-looking pup, was not hurt and was rescued by Agoura Animal Control. One cat died in the accident.

Three other cats are lost, and the family requests help in finding them. The cats are Geri, a gray domestic shorthair female; Sammi, agray domestic shorthair female; and Little Guy, a black domestic shorthair male. The father has searched the crash site but has not found the cats.

Anyone who has information about the cats is encouraged to call Cyndi, a family friend who lives in San Francisco, at (707) 775-4475.
