Spirit of Calabasas hosts baby shower brunch

The Spirit of Calabasas Foundation will host a "supersized" baby shower brunch in support of Love and Care and Help the Babies at 11 a.m. Sun., May 20 at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center.

Attendees will pay an admission fee and have the opportunity to purchase prepackaged baby-essentials baskets t o be donated to young mothers at the Center for the Vulnerable Child at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.

Love and Care and Help the Babies was founded by Sara Wolfson, now a sophomore at Viewpoint School in Calabasas.

The foundation has planned a November evening event in support of Teens Against Domestic Violence, a charity founded last year by several Calabasas High School freshmen. The group provides holiday gifts and essentials, including toiletries, books and toys, to women and their children living in two local domestic violence shelters.

Last year, Teens Against Domestic Violence sponsored more than 30 families during the Christmas season and was chosen as the recipient of the Calabasas Barnes & Noble book drive and the Westfield Mall toy drive.
