Festival features folk music

FIDDLESTICKS- Two musicians play some country jamming at the annual Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest. This year's competition will be at Paramount Ranch on Sun., May 20.
The 47th annual Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest and OldTime, Folk and Bluegrass Music Festival will be held from 9 a.mto 6 p.m. Sun., May 20 at Paramount Ranch on Cornell Road in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

The event will feature more than 100 contestants and professional bands on three stages.

The festival includes folk singing, international dancing, folk arts booths, jamming musicians and children's music and crafts. Tickets, sold only at the gatewill cost $12 for adults, $7 for children ages 10 to 17 and seniors 65 and up. Children under 10 are admitted free. Parking and shuttle bus are free. Attendees may bring picnic lunches and musical instruments.
