      As firefighters advise homeowners to prepare for a long and difficult fire season throughout many of the western states, the Humane Society of the United States urges residents to prepare now for the possibility of evacuation, and that includes preparing to take their pets with them.

Dog and duck have bark fest
      MEETING OF MINDS- Andrea Binder of Agoura Hills submitted this shot of a mama duck and her 11 babies enjoying a swim in the family pool. When Sadie, the Binder pooch, drew near, mama duck began "barking" at her in warning.
