'Evening of Guitar' house concert scheduled

Russ & Julie's House Concerts in Oak Park will present "An Evening of Guitar" featuring Peppino D'Agostino at 8 p.m. Sat., May 5.

D'Agostino is an Italian native and longtime California resident whose style incorporates standard and unconventional tunings as well as unique fingering and percussive effects, according to event organizers.

"I'm not just an acoustic guitar player. I've played with classical and jazz guitarists," D'Agostino says. "What I'm trying to do is stretch the boundaries of this instrument."

The evening includes a coffee and dessert buffet. Tickets are $15 and reservations are required. The money goes to the performers.
