Sunrise good for neighborhood I have some concerns regarding the recent article "Hospital site could become new home for seniors" (March 15). One resident is quoted as concerned that Sunrise would "have a lasting negative effect on the value of the community in that area." I have lived in First Neighborhood for nine years and believe quite the contrary. To reiterate my original concern referenced in your recent article, the current condition of the hospital building, closed almost a decade ago, is unacceptable. Please take a look for yourself. We homeowners would never be allowed to let our property deteriorate to that condition. I would welcome the Sunrise project as a new neighbor. Westlake Village has a growing need for senior living options. For the many people nearing retirement and those who can no longer care for themselves, having an option that allows those who are aging to stay in Westlake Village close to their families is critical. Fortunately, Sunrise Senior Living is offering a number of services, amenities and activities which are lacking in our community. I'm hopeful that as Sunrise addresses the expressed concerns about the current projected size of the facility, they will see a positive reception by Property Owners Association leadership and by the City Council.
