Sign up on Saturday for YMCA summer programs

HAPPY CAMPERS- Registration for the Triunfo YMCA summer programs will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., April 14 at Willow Elementary School in Agoura Hills. The YMCA offers a wide variety of camp options.
The Triunfo YMCA will host a summer programs sign-up day and free carnival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., April 14 at Willow Elementary School, 29026 Laro Drive, Agoura Hills.

Sign-ups will be taken for summer day camp, sleep-away and summer school camps, and aquatic classes. "The YMCA offers a camp for every child's interest," said Chrissy Withers, Triunfo YMCA program director. "The activities are age appropriate and are character building."

Parents who sign their children up for summer camp on April 14 can register at last year's camp prices. Their children will receive a free camp T-shirt. +"Li'l Thunder Camp" is for children entering kindergarten and first grade. Weekly themes rang from "Mad Science" to "On the Farm." Activities include entertainers, water parties and games.

+"Cyclone Camp" is for children entering second and third grades. Campers participate in arts and crafts, science experiments, cooking projects, swimming, and playing at local parks. Trips are planned to Chuck E. Cheese, the Los Angeles Zoo, Paint Pals and Golf N' Stuff.

+"Shockwave Camp," for those entering fourth and fifth grades, will include trips to local beaches, pools, parks, Golf N' Stuff, bowling lanes and amusement parks.

+Campers entering sixth through eighth grades can take part in "Teen Scene" which includes trips to the beach, movies, roller-skating, laser tag, Magic Mountain, Disneyland and Third Street Promenade.

+A camp is offered for summer school students. After classes let out, campers will participate in on-campus activities and take field trips to the beach, the Y swimming pool and other locations.

+Resident camps will be at Camp Fox on Catalina Island and Camp Surf at Imperial Beach in San Diego.

+Camp Fox, July 8 through 14, is for youths entering grades six through 12. Campers will kayak, snorkel, fish, swim and hike, and will be in age-based groups.

+Camp Surf, August 6 through 10, is for those entering grades fifth through eighth who want to surf, body board and body surf. Other activities include archery, rock climbing, survival skills training and ocean water-safety programs.
