Registration opens for Mountains Restoration Trust summer camp

Registration is open for the 2007 summer sessions of Discovery Nature Camp presented by Mountains Restoration Trust.

Designed for children ages 8 to 12, the camp is an introduction to the wonders of nature, according to Susan Haugland, program director.

Activities include nature crafts, labs using scientific tools, hikes, games and guest speakers.

The camp has three sessions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

+Session one will be June 25 through 28 and will feature paleontology, insects, astronomy and a field trip.

+The second session will be July 23 through 26 and will cover stream ecology, geology and birds, along with a field trip.

+Session three will take place Aug. 20 through 23. Campers will study reptiles and amphibians, mammals and ecology.

Hikes will be in Cold Creek Preserve on Stunt Road off Mulholland Highway.

Enrollment is limited. Preregistration is required.
