Junior Ranger Day coming

The National Park Service will celebrate National Park Week in April with Junior Ranger Day events at 100 National Parks throughout the country.

In the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, Junior Ranger Day will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sat., April 28 at Satwiwa Native American Indian Cultural Center, 4126 Potrero Road, Thousand Oaks.

The event will feature a Chumash storyteller. Children between ages 7 and 18 are invited to become Junior Rangers, who will take home a special Junior Ranger Day 2007 patch and pin.

Junior Rangers explore the outdoor world and learn about the people whose cultures have shaped the landscape of this national park.
