Agoura athletes seek help with practice facility

The recent renovation of the athletic fields at Agoura High School has left some members of the track and field team without a place to practice.

Starting today, the 14 shot-putters and discuss throwers can no longer train at the high school, Charger coach John Amneus said. The team is asking for someone in the community to donate an open field that could be used for practicing the shot and discuss. The field must not be small. Agoura's Derek Johnson is the No. 2 ranked discuss thrower in the state and his tosses routinely surpass 185 feet.

"Rather than complain about how unfair this is, we need to find a solution so this young man's spectacular season is not derailed," Amneus said. The team will pour a temporary concrete throwing circle that will later be removed.
