Friendship Walk raises $100,000

The Conejo Valley Friendship Circle, a local nonprofit organization that pairs teenage volunteers with special needs children, raised more than $100,000 on March 18 during its second annual Friendship Walk.

More than 500 people attended the 5K walk, which began on Canwood Avenue and ended with a festival at Sumac Park in Agoura Hills.

"We saw a tremendous outpouring by the community," said Israel Levine, director of the Conejo Valley Friendship Circle. "It was the community coming together to show its support for the Friendship Circle. It was inspiring. We want to expand the program so we can reach out to every single family with a special needs child."
