All Kanan interchange ramps now open

The last of the newly built Kanan Road interchange ramps opened to the public on Fri., March 23, an Agoura Hills official said.

The southbound entrance to the 101 Freeway used by cars heading north on Kanan Road was the fourth new ramp to be opened during the yearlong construction. Two of the new on-ramps are loops, which the interchange never had before.

Workers still must pave the overpass bridge, finish a new access road to the Kanan Plaza shopping center and complete the interchange landscaping before the project is finished, the city said.

Workers also are building a new park-and-ride center on Roadside Drive.

The new interchange configuration is expected to alleviate congestion by allowing right-hand turns only onto the north- and southbound freeway. Also, the number of lanes on the exit ramps was increased.

The project cost $25 million.
