Agoura High scouts earn Eagle rank

Cameron and Matt Jacobson
Boy Scout Troop 127 held a double Eagle Court of Honor at the Agoura Bible Fellowship on Sat., March 17. Matthew Jacobson, 17, and Cameron Jacobson, 16, each were presented the rank of Eagle by Scoutmaster Geoff Gunn.

The two brothers attend Agoura High School, where Matthew is a senior and Cameron is a junior. They live in Agoura Hills and have been active in scouting since the first grade.

Matthew's Eagle Project was constructing new trail markers on behalf of the Mountains Recreation & Conservation Authority and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and placing them on the Juan Bautista de Anza trail.

Additionally, his team cleared off an old cattle fence as well as cleared weeds from the trailhead parking lot.

Cameron's Eagle project involved replacing an old wood fence in the Circle X Ranch campground owned by the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. His team's original goal was 160 feet of new fence, but they were able to build 186 feet.

In addition to achieving the Eagle rank, Matthew earned the Order of the Arrow's highest rank, Vigil.

In April, Cameron will take over the position of troop senior patrol from Matthew.
