Treacherous turn into animal shelter We are extremely fortunate to have a fine animal shelter in Agoura Hills with a caring and competent staff. I frequently visit with the beautiful cats and dogs housed there, and my experience with the animals is always special. However, I approach each visit with trepidation. My concern is with the safety of entering and exiting the driveway of the facility on Agoura Road. The driveway leading into the center is unfortunately on a section of Agoura Road that is in an S shape. It is extremely difficult to see the center signage from either direction, causing center visitors to suddenly slow down for entrance. A motorist traveling at the posted speed limit does not have a good view around the S curve and is illprepared for any unexpected slowing of a car in front of him. This combined situation is dangerous and is an accident waiting to happen. Although we cannot change the shape of Agoura Road, we can lessen the possibility of an accident occurring by three simple steps: Placing "Animal Center Entrance 100 yards" warning signs on Agoura Road, removing the trees and other foliage that block the animal center sign and making the signs higher, larger and more colorful. Hopefully, we can make visiting our animal friends a safer experience in the future. Linda Le Vine Agoura Hills |
