Schillinger shouldn't advise on autism I have read The Acorn article surrounding the appointment of Ms. Mary Schillinger to the state Autism Advisory Committee and can't help but see the irony. As Ms. Schillinger is director of pupil services for the LVUSD, she has ultimate control of the special education program and specifically those programs for autistic students. As the parent of an autistic student in the LVUSD, I have also seen the extent to which Ms. Schillinger will go to spend taxpayer funds. Taxpayers in our community need to become aware of the $1 million this district, under Ms. Schillinger's direction, has spent on one autism case directed against one student and one family. I know as it is my family and my son that has felt the ire of Ms. Schillinger's profligate spending of taxpayer funds on legal fees. There is at least one other case in our district with legal fees in excess of $1 million. Where is the accountability? It is disheartening to have an individual that is so vindictive towards my family, and spending hundred of thousands of taxpayer dollars on needless legal fees, making recommendations to state legislators on providing services to autistic students. I don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about an individual having direct input into formulating programs for our schools statewide that also has a wanton disregard for taxpayer funds. John P.
