Caregivers work with Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer's Association, California Central Coast Chapter is offering free respite care for caregivers who are caring for a family member or other loved one with dementia.

Up to $600 is available for respite care that can include help with bathing, daily activities, personal care and housework. This will allow a caregiver to take time off for needed rest and relief.

Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative brain disorder and presents a growing health and cost challenge for America. It is estimated that upwards of 12,000 people with Alzheimer's diseases live in Ventura County.

The Alzheimer's Association offers free and lowcost programs and services such as public education about Alzheimer's, respite for caregivers, support groups and library services.

For more information, to volunteer or to support the local chapter, call (805) 485-5597. The office is at 1339 Del Norte Road, Camarillo. The website is www.centralcoastalz.org.
