Eagle Scout builds owl boxes for parks
WHOOO'S WHO- Westlake High School senior Roger Parks, 18, earned scouting's highest honor for his Eagle Scout service project. Roger constructed a dozen owl boxes and erected them in several local parks for the Conejo Recreation and Park District. Owls have already moved into the boxes and are hunting the rodents that dig up playfields. When natural predators are introduced to control rodent populations, chemical pesticides, which work their way up the food chain, can be avoided.
