Resource Conservation District gets new home

The Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains has moved into its new home at Peter Strauss Ranch in the Central Santa Monica Mountains.

The district was required to vacate its office in Topanga Canyon to make way for a new county library that is being built.

The district has been a partner of the National Park Service and other conservation agencies that work to conserve natural resources in the mountains through research, conservation actions and public education.

"I am pleased that the RCD will be able to maintain a physical presence in the mountains and base for its conservation work," said Woody Smeck, superintendent. ""Peter Strauss Ranch is a perfect fit for this collaboration. RCD will be conducting conservation education programs on the site."
