Classical vocalist to release debut CD

Jessica Tivens
Jessica Tivens was nine years old when she stepped onto the field at Dodger Stadium to belt out the National Anthem for a near-capacity crowd. Her father, Lynn Tivens, said he figured that moment would be a test as to whether his daughter had what it took to be a performer.

But rather than becoming paralyzed with fear, as many would be, little Jessica blossomed under the pressure of performing. She absolutely loved singing for a crowd as a little girl and hasn't stopped since, according to her father.

At 16, Jessica sang duets with Michael Crawford and Josh Grobin, and she was the Spotlight Award winner as a teenager.

The twentysomething Calabasas High School graduate, who trained at Juilliard School of Music, has performed with opera companies in New York, San Francisco and Seattle. Her concert and symphony appearances include taking the stage at Carnegie Hall.

The classical vocalist is now releasing her debut solo CD, the culmination of an already rich professional singing career. The CD is titled "Unlimited," perhaps referring to the singer's crossover vocal styles. The CD includes opera and musical theater tracks in both soprano and mezzo soprano ranges, an uncommon variety, according to her father.

"Unlimited" is available through CDBaby.com.
