Negative campaigning backfired

The voters have spoken. All the lies and character assassination tactics used against Barry Groveman did not work.

Last minute negative campaign mailings leave the person being attacked with no time to respond to false charges. This tactic may be effective in a race where the candidate is not personally known by the constituents. But the people of Calabasas have first-hand knowledge of Groveman's record of hard work and dedicated service to our community, especially his strong environmental record.

The voters rejected all the mudslinging and reelected Groveman by a wide margin. He is a public official of uncommon intellect, energy, integrity and vision and we are lucky to have him representing us in city hall.

The voters also showed good judgment in reelecting Dennis Washburn who has provided leadership, experience and responsiveness as founder, mayor and council member of our city since its very beginning. Marci Ronka Calabasas
