Karen Dry named Woman of the Year

Karen Dry
Karen Dry, president of Garrett Interiors Inc. in Westlake Village, has been named "Woman of the Year" by the National Association for Homebuilders Women's Council. The honor is awarded to one association member for contributions to all levels of service, in and outside the building industry community.

Dry's background is varied, ranging from attending UCSD for engineering and physics to employing 28 people in her interior design business. She's bought and sold several businesses over the past 25 years, including the Westlake Village-based Thousand Oaks Printing.

Over the past five years Dry has been instrumental in expanding the Women's Council membership from 35 to almost 300. The membership push earned Dry a lifetime achievement award from the association for membership recruiting.

Dry has volunteered at local high schools, community colleges and universities mentoring students and encouraging their leadership development skills.
