Arbor Day event in Calabasas

There will be an Arbor Day celebration from 9 a.m. to noon Sat., March 10 at Wild Walnut Park at the corner of Mulholland Highway and Old Topanga Canyon Road in Calabasas.

Activities include a children's tree planting activity and an official ceremony at 11 a.m. The city of Calabasas will be presented with the 2006 Tree City USA award by the National Association of State Foresters.

The city was named a Tree City by the National Arbor Day Foundation due to a project wherein the city planted Saratoga trees in the Mulwood area, a result of a grant awarded to Calabasas by the State Department of Forestry.

The celebration is sponsored by the city of Calabasas, Mountains Restoration Trust and Tree City USA. For more information, call the trust at (818) 591-1701.
