Spotlight on Toby Keeler

Toby Keeler is here for the people of Calabasas. For years, Toby has immersed himself in matters of importance concerning Calabasas. Having volunteered countless hours serving our community in many different capacities, Toby has had plentiful opportunities to interact with the people of Calabasas.

I have worked closely with Toby for more than two years. We both served as cochairpersons of the nonprofit arts organization, Spotlight the Arts, whose mission is to establish an appropriate, wellequipped theater for the visual and performing arts in Calabasas.

Spotlight intends to raise funds for construction and operation through private and corporate donations, not city funds. We have experienced a groundswell of public support for this endeavor, both from arts organizations and individuals. Notwithstanding the City Council's unanimous decision in 2005 to support our fundraising efforts towards the building of a theater, it is my personal belief that the current City Council has ignored the chorus of voices raised in support of this project. The current City Council has, in my opinion, imposed restrictions on the caliber of arts venue that is desired by, and would be supported by, this community. While working together not only as a leadership team but as fellow members of the Spotlight the Arts board, I have come to know Toby as a man of integrity, tireless energy and heart. The Calabasas City Council needs new blood. I ask you to join me in electing Toby Keeler, a man of the people, to the Calabasas City Council.
