Candidate respects historical vision For those of you who don't yet have a favorite candidate for March 6 election for Calabasas City Council, do this: Go to the Albertsons parking lot on Agoura Road and Las Virgenes and look toward the freeway. You'll see a large canister very high up on the ridgeline. This is a sure sign of something ugly to come. Think mansionistic homes with, say, three or four fireplace chimneys. You'll wonder if it's commercial or residential. Then turn around and look toward Las Virgenes Road and you'll see the same ugly "home" atop these ridges above the sheepherders hut. Let our eyes drop down to the cluster of tightly packed homes siding up to Las Virgenes Road and the very high retaining wall for that complex that hides your view of the sheepherder hut and any sheep--if they're still out there. This is a quick way to assess what's been going on full speed ahead in our beautiful rural community. Unchecked development and complete dismissal of any ridgeline protections that I thought we had in place. Also look from my backyard, which now showcases some unbelievably large estates lining the ridgeline above Calabasas. And what do we need a Civic Center complex for?
We have a unique opportunity to get control back from
the career politicians who now so comfortably sit on our City Council but have
long ago outlived their usefulness. Vote Keeler and Reicheneder for City
Council, and let's see if we can preserve what's left of our natural beauty in
our neighborhoods. | |||||
