Quality of life undermined

The current Calabasas City Council has allowed a pattern of development that has seriously eroded the quality of life for us in the Calabasas highlands. Its willingness to approve any project, no matter how unsuitable for our rural community, is unconscionable.

I'll give a few examples. After approving one project request, the city's inadequate oversight of construction ignored illegal grading that has undermined a neighboring house's foundation. Nothing is happening.

Residents' advice about an underground stream was ignored, resulting in a huge mud pit and, for the builder, extra construction costs and delays. While the city approves project after project, it neither responds to nor cares for the citizens who are negatively affected by these projects.

We face problems ranging beyond development. In a neighborhood filled with little children, the local pocket park receives such poor maintenance that parents don't want their kids to play there. Does this sound like the welladministered city that an incumbent boasted about recently in The Acorn? I don't think so.

We need responsible leadership, and we can find that in Toby Keeler. An unflagging steward of the environment, Toby will bring back the responsiveness to the public that once characterized this city. Toby's integrity and commitment to citizen involvement and our natural resources have always been impeccable. Vote for Toby Keeler on March 6.
