Ed Asner to play King David in Jewish Community Center play

Award-winning actor Ed Asner will play David in "King David and His Concubine: A Love Story" at 8 p.m. Sat., March 24 at the Jewish Community Center at Milken, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills.

The performance will be followed by an audience discussion with the playwright.

The play, under the direction of actor and director Richard Green, explores David's relationship near the end of his life with his only real love, the young Shulamite, who has grown to also love the now frail hero. The role of Shulamite is played by Ishiah Benben.

The production is presented by Adat Chaverim, The Valley Congregation for Humanistic Judaism, in partnership with the JCC at Milken and the Jewish Federation.

A a wine and cheese reception will preceed the show.
