Bird's-eye view offers glimpse into warblers' world

HERE'S LOOKING AT YOU, KID-- Chaparral Elementary School kindergarten student Nicholas Salit, 6, is on bird watch at the Mountains Restoration Trust headquarters in Calabasas Saturday along with the San Fernando Valley Audubon Society. Below, the camera freezes hummingbirds midflight. A hummingbird's wings flap anywhere from 15 to 80 times per second, depending on the size of bird. On average, a hummingbird flies 25 mph. Hummingbirds are known as a contentious and territorial group, fighting mostly over food sources.
