Children's books are brought to life
More than 150 youth ages 12 to 18 will present six musical comedy plays based on the theme "Classics in Children's Literature" at 6 and 8:30 p.m. Fri., Feb. 23 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 35 S. Wendy Drive, Newbury Park.

WILD THINGS- Erica White and Braxten Rutherford rehearse for "Where the Wild Things Are," one of six short musical comedies to be performed by the youth of several area congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Show times are 6 and 8:30 p.m. Fri., Feb. 23 at 35 W. Wendy Drive, Newbury Park.

The actors represent six LDS congregations from Agoura, Oak Park, Westlake and Newbury Park.

The performances are free and open to the public; families are encouraged to attend.

Each of the six groups will have three minutes to set up, 15 minutes to perform and one minute to take down the sets. The acts are called "road shows" because historically the shows would travel around town to perform at several locations on the same evening.

"I am looking forward to being in the road show with a lot of my friends," said Cameron Kinney, 16, who is playing in "Where the Wild Things Are."
