Setting the record straight

I saw in Barry Groveman's Acorn profile saying he is a member of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Board. This is not so.

Sworn in on Aug. 22, 2005, after appointing himself as the Calabasas representative during his failed assembly campaign, here's his record, according to the minutes of the SMMC, both posted on their website and on file at the SMMC office: 14 meetings followed through 2006. Of these, he attended one, came very late to a second meeting and was absent from the remaining 12 meetings.

His record of nonattendance at the latest local Coastal Plan hearing shows his lack of concern for the Santa Monica Mountains.

In his current run for the Calabasas City Council election, does he have the endorsement of the Sierra Club and Save Open Space organizations? No, but Toby Keeler does.

His pitiful performance as an environmental representative for the Calabasas City Council is the reason he should be rejected on March 6 and replaced by Toby Keeler. Vote for Toby, the best environmental candidate running.

Editor's note: Groveman was a member of the Conservancy Advisory Board from April 2005 until December 2006.
