Support group for new moms to meet

A Postpartum Support Group will be offered for new mothers in Calabasas from 10:30 a.m. to noon beginning Thurs., March 15.

The group will be focused on helping mothers of infants up to 12 months old who may be experiencing sadness, anxiety, irritability or mood swings.

Research shows that between 15 and 20 percent of new mothers, whether it is their first child or they have other children, will experience some form of depression or anxiety. The goal is to provide emotional support and education to get through this period in a mother's life.

The group will be lead by Heather Martin Zeug, a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist in private practice in Calabasas. Zeug specializes in women's mental health issues, with a special interest in perinatal emotional issues.

There is a fee of $35 per group.
