Too much green

I read with interest the story that the LVUSD "is discussing installing . . . a synthetic playing surface onto the football fields at Agoura and Calabasas high schools."

The projected price of $1 million per field equates to $157 per square yard, pretty expensive carpet. At current interest rates, a deposit of $1 million would generate $50,000 in perpetuity to maintain the grass on the current fields.
