PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC-- New West Symphony maestro Boris Brott directs Charlie Gayle, 9, a Red Oak Elementary School third-grader, to play a bird call during the symphony's Adventure Student Concert at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza recently. More than 10,000 third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students from 50 area schools attended the performances, which were designed to introduce children to classical music and various instruments.
