Multiparish adult ed announces 2007 season The University, a multiparish adult education program, will offer 13 subjects with 110 sessions presented by 70 speakers Thurs., Feb. 22 through Sat., March 31. Attendees may preregister now. Participating parishes are Holy Cross in Moorpark, Our Lady of the Assumption in Ventura, Padre Serra and St. Mary Magdalen in Camarillo, St. Jude the Apostle and St. Maximilian Kolbe in Westlake Village, St. Julie Billiart in Newbury Park, St. Paschal Baylon in Thousand Oaks, and St. Peter Claver and St. Rose of Lima in Simi Valley. Subjects include current events and faith, church history, evangelization, scripture studies and archaeology, social justice, and spirituality and prayer. Several speakers will present sessions this year. Sister Anne Bryan Smollin, the author of books on living a happy, healthy and holy life, will offer "Tickle Your Soul." Char Wenc, author, speaker and professor of psychology, will present "Parenting 101." Other faculty members include Dr. Daniel SmithChristopher, frequent guest on the Discovery and History channels; Bishop Thomas Curry, author and expert on church and state; Dr. Paul Ford, professor of theology and expert on the writings of C.S. Lewis; and Sister Edith Prendergast, an authority on morality and the conscience. The University's concert series will feature individual performers and ensembles, culminating in an event featuring choirs from several area Catholic churches. The Teen Track will offer special sessions, including "From Cop to Collar" with the Rev. Steve Davoren, who served with both the L.A. County Sheriff 's Department and the Los Angeles Police Department. Preregistration will end Sun., Feb. 11. Attendees may register for individual classes for $5 or obtain a season pass for $85 (a $175 value). Tuition is $7 at the door. All prices include a guest for free.
