Take Your Acorn on Vacation

FAMILY TIES- The Barmasse and the Solomon families, both of Agoura, gather in Maui for a group vacation. SILVER LINING- Rebecca Evans and Nate Lee, both of Thousand Oaks, don't let the overcast sky bother them on their trip to Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. They're at the eco-friendly Si Como No Resort. WINTER WONDERLAND- Herb Eckerling of Agoura Hills, right, helps his son, Perry, dig out of the 2006 Denver blizzard. They're snowbound in Littleton, Colo., but have plenty of good reading in hand. WIDE OPEN SPACES- The Hazards of Agoura Hills take in the view at the mother point of the south rim of the Grand Canyon. In the photo are Janna, Tom, Mike and Jenna. GRAND MANSION- Jan and Sid Sicoff of Calabasas visit the Peterhof Winter Palace of St. Petersburg, Russia, during a Baltic sea cruise. They also stopped in Denmark, Sweden and Poland. ANCIENT CIVILIZATION- Wyman and Laurel Dunford of Westlake Village hike to an elevation of more than 7,700 feet to view the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu in Cuzco, Peru. The trip came on the heels of Laurel's high school graduation. CONGRATULATIONS- The Agoura Water Polo Foundation Boys' Team travel south to win first place in the San Diego Sun's International Water Polo tournament. HEAD IN THE CLOUDS- Calabasas residents Peter Kertzner and his dad, Richard, take a break from hiking to read The Acorn. They're at the top of Mt. Whitney, Calif., the highest peak in the continental US. STEP ASIDE- Taylor and Samantha D'Ambrosio of Agoura Hills try not to get in the way of this creature they met at Mammoth Mountain. Now we know where the popular resort got its name. CITY OF SPAS- Lynn Friedman and Philip Ross of Agoura Hills relax in Budapest, Hungary. The town is well known for its spas, swimming pools, wellness facilities and Turkish baths because of thermal springs in the center of the city. PRISTINE BEACHES- The Eder family have a wonderful time in Negril, Jamaica. In the photo are Nancy, John, Shannon and Kelly. READY FOR SIGHTSEEING- Sid and Ilene Winter of Agoura Hills take a cruise aboard the Norwegian Crown. They're waiting for a tender to take them to Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands, where they hope to see some penguins and other native wildlife. NOT COSTCO- Carolyn Mallory and Thom Bancroft of Agoura Hills shop in a fish market in Pusan, South Korea. They found such delicacies as pig heads for sale. ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL- Alan, Drew and Linda Kuban of Agoura Hills join other tourists at the Great Wall in China.
