+Packets are available for the Winter/Spring 2007 Adult Coed Softball and Men's Softball Leagues. The Adult Coed Softball League plays on Sundays at Chumash and Forest Cove Parks in Agoura Hills. League play is scheduled to begin Sun., Feb. 25. The Men's Softball League plays on Saturday mornings at Chumash and Forest Cove Park s in Agoura Hills. Deadline to register is 4 p.m. Fri., Feb. 16. +Musicians are wanted for the spring performance of the Community Concert and Jazz Band at 5 p.m. Sun., March 11 at White Oak Elementary School in Westlake Village. Rehearsals begin at 7 p.m. Tues., Feb. 6. The band rehearses on Tuesday nights in the Agoura High School band room. To join the band, call Roger Vick at (805) 381-1325. +Registration is open for certification courses for both adult/ child/infant CPR and first aid. Heartsaver CPR will cover adult, child and infant CPR, defibrillator demonstration, rescue breathing, barrier device usage, choking, safety issues and SIDS information. Students will receive a manual and handout information as well as an American Heart Association two-year CPR certification card upon completion of the course. The class will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 8. The cost is $35, and there is a $15 nonrefundable lab fee payable to the instructor. The first aid basic session will cover sudden illness, seizures, bleeding, burns, poisoning, snake bites, nose bleeds, bee stings and Epipen usage. Students will receive a first aid booklet, poison control stickers and an American Red Cross three-year certification card upon completion of the course. The class will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 15. The cost is $30, and there is a $15 nonrefundable lab fee payable to the instructor. +A mature drivers training class, taught by Sy Rifkin, is a defensive driving course for seniors age 55 and over. It can help seniors qualify for reduced auto insurance rates. This one-day course will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Tues., Feb. 27. The cost is $12 for Senior Center registrants or $14 for non-Senior Center registrants. +Beginning and intermediate tai chi class for seniors age 50 and over are offered Mondays and Wednesdays on an ongoing basis. The intermediate class is from 9 to 10 a.m., and the beginning class is from 10 to 11 a.m. at Reyes Adobe Park, 30400 Rainbow Crest Drive, Agoura Hills. The monthly fee is $29; drop-in fee is $4. Participants must be registered participants of the Senior Recreation Program. +Gentle Yoga, an ongoing program geared toward adults age 50 and older, is offered from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The fee for an eight-week course is $21 for once a week, $35 for twice a week and $45 for three times a week. Students need to bring a mat to class. Participants must be members of the Senior Recreation Program; a $12 yearly registration fee is required. +Assistance in preparing tax returns for 2006 is available to seniors age 50 and older. Volunteers certified by the IRS and AARP will provide individual consultation concerning state and federal tax returns. Appointments are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 7 through April 11. Tax preparation services are free and by appointment only. |
