Solid start for Real Cal soccer club
OFF AND RUNNING- The Real California FC Girls '92 squad, formerly known as CVU Blue G92, reached the finals of the Irvine Winter Classic while playing in its first tournament together. Real entered the championship match against the Manteca Fire with two shutout victories. The defense was led by goalkeeper Emily Ortiz, as well as Brittney Myers, Megan Moore, Caitlin Turner and Kasey Kavanagh. After regulation, the teams were locked in a scoreless draw. Real fell in penalty kicks. The attack was led by Briana Lariviere, Shelby Hall and Kirsten Jakob. Midfielders Dakota Craig, Jordan Phillips, Chloe Wheeler, Katie Pabros and Megan Williams were solid throughout the tournament. Real California FC next plays at the Glendora FC Friendlies later this month. The team is trained by Jack Craig and Heather Moore.
