Students to perform in 'Anza de Calabasas'

Lupin Hill Elementary School students Courtney Kelsberg, 11, Brooke Kelsberg, 8, and Arianna Reznik, 10, will perform at the annual "Anza en Calabazas 1776" historical commemoration at 2 p.m. Sun., Feb. 25 at the Soka University of America Calabasas campus, 26800 W. Mulholland Hwy.

Admission to the event is free and open to the public. The show will go on, rain or shine. Call Robin Mitchell at (310) 327-5345 for more information.

At the event, the Kelsberg sisters will play several Spanish songs on their guitars, and Arianna will sing an 18th-century Spanish hymn.

"Anza en Calabazas 1776" will also include a reenactment of Lt. Col. Juan Bautista de Anza leading his soldiers- along with a group of 240 families, priests, and native American guides- through the Las Virgenes valley to camp.

Uniformed members of "Los Soldados (Soldiers) del Real Presidio de Santa Barbara," comprised mostly of World War II and Viet Nam veterans, will also participate in the reenactment.
