Teen video festival coming to T.O. The Thousand Oaks Arts Commission recently announced the ninth annual Conejo Teen Video Festival, open to teenagers 19 years or younger who live in or near the Conejo Valley. This event is offered in conjunction with Time Warner Cable, Conejo Recreation and Park District and the Brooks Institute of Photography. Free workshops will be available Sat., Feb. 17 and Sat., March 3 at the Thousand Oaks Teen Center for training in various aspects of film craft. To register, call the center at (805) 494-5156. Camera and editing workshops are also available through Time Warner Cable. For information and registration, call (818) 879-5993. All entries must be written, directed and edited by the teens working on each project. Submission deadline is June 1. Films may be entered in the documentary, fiction or music video categories. Documentary and fiction films must be no longer than 10 minutes; the music videos are limited to four minutes. Festival screenings of the final selections will be Fri. and Sat., June 22 and 23 at local high schools. Awards presentations and the final screening will be Wed., June 27 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Awards will be given for best documentary, best music video, most original video, best screenplay, best technical achievement, best acting, best cinematography, best video by director under 15 and best overall video.
