Women's Club gives gifts to RAIN Project

GOODWILL- Members of the Westlake Village Junior Women's Club, from left, Candi James, Roselle Rolfe, Gayle Watson and Marlene Schwartz, prepare their donation for the RAIN Project in Oxnard, which offers support and transitional programs for homeless families and single adults.
The Westlake Village Junior Women's Club donated gift cards worth more than $1,500 to the RAIN Project Transitional Living Center in Camarillo. Marlene Schwartz and Roselle Wolfe, the disbursement vice presidents, chose the RAIN Project as the recipient of this year's gift card drive "because of the worthy cause that it serves," they said.

Club members delivered the gift cards on Wed., Jan. 10. Gayle Watson, the RAIN volunteer coordinator, gave the visiting members a tour of the facilities and the programs available to the participants of the project.

Watson said the gift cards were much needed and would be used throughout the year either as rewards or as gifts to families prior to their departure from the program.

"The RAIN Project Transitional Living Center is a beautiful, safe, nurturing, clean and sober environment for homeless families and single adults, helping them to become selfsufficient and independent," said Candi James, the copresident of the club, after the visit and tour.

The Westlake Village Junior Women's Club is a nonprofit organization open to all women from the greater Conejo Valley area interested in community service.
